Strawberry Sweet Tea
This strawberry sweet tea is the PERFECT summertime drink! I first stumbled upon this drink when I lived in the south and sweet tea is only second to maybe water… MAYBE. I think people in the south may have sweet tea running through their veins.
Needless to say fruit infused teas made at home not only taste better but they’re extremely easy to make, and have less sugar than the tea they serve at those restaurants.
This tea is super refreshing and the perfect drink to make for a party, brunch, or just to sit out on the porch on a hot summer day sipping ice cold strawberry sweet tea. That sounds like the perfect summer day to me!
I hope you make this tea and enjoy it as much as my family did! If you take pictures please tag me in them on Instagram or Twitter! I love to see your recreations!
STRAWBERRY SWEET TEA
- Prep Time: 30m
- Cook Time: 15m
- Total Time: 45m
- Yield: about 8 cups
- 2-1/2 cups ripe strawberries
- 1-1/2 cup organic cane sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 black tea bags
- 6 cups filtered water**
Cut your strawberries into quarters and place them into a sauce pot along with the sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes until berries are very soft.
Remove berries from heat and add to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl while you brew your tea.
Pour 4 cups of boiling water over 4 tea bags and steep for 5-10 minutes. Once steeped remove the bags and pour the tea into the strawberry mixture. Add the other two cups of cold water and stir well to combine.
Taste for sweetness adjustments, add more water if you’d like at this point. Place your tea into a pitcher and into the fridge for a couple hours to let the flavors come together.
Serve over Ice and enjoy!
